Enjoying the Holidays

Stress free holidays. That’s the mantra in our house.

So when my daughter and son-in-law arrived yesterday, how did they find me – stressed. My house was in chaos because I was have been out of town two weekends in a row and the downstairs toilet was clogged.

But my daughter just looked at me and said, “Stress Free holidays mom.”

I took a breath and remembered, the most important thing is family and friends…not an immaculate house.

What is stressing you out this season?
Dread of the biting comments of family members?
Preparing for Family and friends to descend upon your house?
Trying to make a moist turkey? (Call me, I can help with that.)
Finances?

Whatever it is, the key is to remember, none of these things define you. Your families opinion of you does not define who you are. Your value is not in a clean house. You do many things well and a dry turkey does not diminish that. Tight finances does not determine your success in this life.

So hold your head high, put down the broom, and remember who you are in Christ – righteous, loved, accepted, valued, rich, equipped, His. Worship Him. Make your requests known to Him and then enjoy your stress-free Holiday.

Embrace your family, prepare your house, baste that Turkey, and budget your money NOT TO BE accepted and loved but because YOU ARE accepted and loved.

Let stress free holiday be your mantra as well.

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭MSG‬‬
