Forgiven

The other day I got angry with someone. In my anger I told the Lord, “I’m not going to forgive them.” Even in my anger, I felt the Lord smile at me and say, “Yes, you will.” He didn’t say it as a command but simply as “I know your heart my daughter and you know who you are and you know you are forgiven.”

And He was correct, I forgave. The person did not apologize to me. They did not repent. They did not even know how angry they made me but I forgave quickly and freely. Why? Because I have been forgiven quickly and freely.

Brothers and sisters you have been forgiven! You don’t have to recall all of your mistakes and ask forgiveness for each one. When you received Christ as your Savior, you were forgiven for past, present, and future sins. Please walk in the freedom this provides! You don’t have to be fearful that maybe you missed a sin and God is withholding forgiveness. He is not.

Most importantly, forgive as you are forgiven. Are you having a difficult time forgiving others? Perhaps it’s because you feel as if your forgiveness is conditional. Perhaps you are withholding forgiveness waiting for the person to apologize or repent from their behavior. But when we realize our forgiveness is unconditional, it frees us to forgive others freely, unconditionally.

Walk in the freedom today that you are completely and totally forgiven! Then forgive as you are forgiven!

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
