Jesus and Vaccinations

Would Jesus support vaccinations? Let me tell you what He would NOT do first:

1. Jesus would not divide – the vaccinated against the unvaccinated. He would invite both to the table.

2. He would not refuse to heal and he would not judge.

3. He would not vilify leaders on either side.

4. He would not mock, exclude, or wish death on either side.

5. He would not accuse those who choose vaccinations or masks of being without faith.

You know, when Jesus walked on this earth, sickness and disease were rampant. But I never read where Jesus criticized the medicine of that day. Even the woman who had spent all she had on doctors – Jesus did not proclaim her doctors as wicked. He never advised anyone to avoid the medicine of that day. (I can’t really find that practice anywhere in the Bible.)

But, yes He was always there to heal when the medicine of the day failed.

So what would Jesus do and say about the vaccinations if He walked the earth today?

I think He would say, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
I think He would say, “Heal the sick. Be generous to the poor.”
I think He would say, “Heed the voice of the Lord.”
I think He would say, “Come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
I think He would say, “Whatever your choice, I love you and no one can snatch you out of my hands.”

And what would He do?

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, [and He] went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:38‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So what should we do about vaccinations? What should we say? We should say and do what Jesus said and did.

We should ask the Holy Spirit and our doctors (not politicians and political pundits) what is best for us.

We should seek to love, unite, and heal.

I think that is what Jesus would do! This is what I’m choosing to do.
