Keep Hoping

Unjustly oppressed. Forced into labor simply because of their heritage. They had mourned. They had cried out for help. And when someone finally came to ‘help’, he only made things worse. Their oppressors now required the impossible of them. They were discouraged. They felt hopeless.

So when Moses delivered a beautiful message of hope from God, they rejected it. They could not see themselves free from oppression. They could not phantom being rescued from slavery. They could not comprehend not being a slave. They could not risk the disappointment of believing God for a brighter day. They refused to listen to God’s promises because they were dismayed by their current situation.

I understand how the Children of Israel felt. Back in October, we had a speaker come to our church. He was very prophetic. So many people sought a prophetic word. But not me. I was disappointed. Disillusioned. Discouraged. I didn’t want to hear another promise from God. I wanted results. But he began praying for my friend, so I went to stand behind her.

Then the prophet prayed for me. Giving me the exact word God had given me earlier in the year. Still, I couldn’t receive it. I was tired of hoping. Tired of believing. Tired of expecting.

Have you ever felt like that?

What do you do when you are about to explode with dreams? What do you when you are saturated with promises?

Nothing.

You wait. You trust. You believe. You cling to the promises. You get up in the morning and put one foot in front of the other. You do what God has called you to do for that day. You remain faithful. You prosper where you are.

Despite the Children of Israel’s refusal to hear the prophetic word, God still delivered them. God is faithful even when we aren’t. God’s promises are yes and amen even when we are disappointed.

Friends, if you are tired of waiting for the dream to come to pass, take it from someone who’s been there (I may have visited there this morning). God has not forgotten about you. God is preparing you for the next step. Here is my advice to you.

1. Recognize how God is moving in your life now and worship him.
2. Avoid discouragement. What may seem like a setback in the natural, is not a setback in the spiritual realm.
3. Pray in the Spirit regularly
4. Rejoice in all things.
5. Guard your mouth.
6. Find a place to serve.
7. Stay connected to the Body.
8. Don’t be afraid to hope. Your strength is renewed when you hope. You will soar on wings like eagles. You will run and not grow faint.

Friends, despite how far away the Dream may seem, Keep hoping. Keep believing. Keep expecting.

“So Moses told the people of Israel what the Lord had said, but they refused to listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the brutality of their slavery.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭6:9‬ ‭NLT‬
