Relentless

Has God ever called you to do something and you step out all excited about it? You know God has put it on your heart, so you have ideas of everyone rallying around you and supporting this great work God has called you to do. You envision blue skies and green lights, but no sooner as you take that one step of faith – BAM opposition!

Nehemiah experienced this. God had called him to rebuild his city. He was granted permission by the king and began the work. But the bible tells us, as soon as he begun, accusations and ridicule began as well. When that did not deter Nehemiah, threats were next.

The enemy tactics are the same today. When God calls you to something, the enemy comes with accusations and ridicule. The accusations often come from that little voice in your head. “Who’d do you think you are to attempt this? You are not smart enough, pretty enough, talented enough. You are not special. Others smarter, better, have tried this and it has failed.” Do these voices sound familiar? When the voices can’t stop us, the enemy threatens us. He uses sickness, our children, circumstance, job loss anything he can to get us to stop the work God has called us to do.

So what do we do? We do what Nehemiah did. We let nothing deter us from the work God has called us to do. We ask for intercessors to join us, we arm ourselves with truth and we fight. We counteract his accusations by reminding ourselves who we are in Christ. We face his threats with prayers and declarations of God’s will for our lives and our children’s lives. We do not relent. We do not retreat. We push forward. Yes, when God call us to a work, there will be opposition but we are overcomers and greater is He that is in us than he who opposes us. Heed the words of Nehemiah today:

“Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” (‭Nehemiah‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ NIV)
