The Challenge – Week 3 Day 2

What is concerning you today? Your marriage? Your children? A financial problem? Your job? What is causing you worry or anxiety?

About a year and a half ago, I was researching the cost of getting a book edited. It was overwhelming to me. At the same time I was toying with the idea of going on a missions trip. Together, but of these seemed like financial impossibilities. I had spent that Saturday night worrying about the cost. The next morning in my devotional I read, “He who did not spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not with Him graciously give us all things.”

I began to meditate on that scripture and ask the Lord to reveal truth to me. He sort of laughed and said, “It means exactly what it says. Money to edit your book is nothing. I have called you to do this and I will provide for it. I gave you my son, my very best. You can surely trust me to provide for your every need. By the end of the day, someone will give you $——. ”

I went to church that morning with peace. We had a great service and honestly I had forgotten about the promise until someone walked up to me after church and handed me a check for the exact amount God had told me. They said the Lord told them to give it to me for the missions trip. The Lord continued to provide miraculously and extravagantly for both the mission’s trip and the editing of my book.

What are you worried about today? The same generous God who gave His one and only son as a ransom for you, is the same God who gives us beautiful sunsets for our pleasure, array the fields with lilies, parted a sea, shut a lion’s mouth, built a billion dollar temple, delivered a nation with a song, freed a demoniac, healed a leper, a mute, and a blind man. Will not the same God who loves you relentlessly, extravagantly, completely, give to you generously and freely all things?

This scripture means exactly what it says. Trust God with whatever has you heavy-hearted today.
