The Heavy Lifting

But I don’t know what to say. I’m not an eloquent speaker. What if they don’t listen? These are all the objections Moses raised when sent to deliver the children of Israel.

Listening to his objections sounds similar to the objections we raise today? What if I pray for them and they are not healed? What if I tell them about the love of God and they don’t believe me? What if they don’t listen?

But God told Moses, “Listen, your only responsibility is to say what I tell you to say. I’m going to do the heavy lifting. I’m going to deliver. I’m going to rescue. I’m going to bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey. I’m going to give them favor. I’m going to exact justice on their oppressors. Just go speak.”

God is answering our objections the same way today. “Sons and daughters, lay hands on the sick, command demons to flee, and preach the good news. Jesus has done the heavy lifting. Jesus’ blood has procured a new convenant. Jesus’ death and resurrection has secured the victory. By His stripes they are healed. By His love, they will be brought into the kingdom. The outcome is my responsibility. Your response is simply, to declare yes and amen, by laying on of hands, commanding evil spirits to flee and preaching the good news.”

Today, I will go out, preach the gospel, lay hands on the sick, command spirits to flee with no pressure. Because that is my response to the goodness of God. I’m going to leave the heavy lifting to Jesus.

“So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬
