Watch your Mouth

“I am overwhelmed,” I muttered under my breath as I sat at my desk trying to decide where to begin.

The Holy Spirit sternly whispered, “Stop saying that.”

I sighed, bracing myself for the correction I was about to receive.

“You are not overwhelmed. You are under the shadow of the Most High. You are being given an opportunity to rest in my grace, to rely on my wisdom, to trust in me, to thrive in turmoil. Change your declaration.”

I had forgotten something I learned early in my Christian walk, “Our words are important.”

We, like God, create realities with our words. And my words were creating a feeling of defeat.

We are instructed that, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue and we eat the fruit of it.” I was eating the fruit of my confessions – weariness.

We like God, call those things that do not exist as if they did.

Is this a “name it and claim it” theology? No! It is a believe the word of God despite what we see, despite what we feel, despite what we hear and speak truth!

So, I see the work before me.
I feel overwhelmed.
I hear the list of things to accomplish.
But I will declare, “I am thoroughly equipped for such a time as this.”

I am changing my declaration today. I am creating a reality of peace. I am empowering my spirit to prosper.

What will be the fruit of your lips today?

“A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:20-21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
