Watch Your Mouth

“Are there any discounts for educators? Because I’m a teacher and you know we are poor.”

As soon as that lie came out of my mouth, I felt convicted. I immediately told my young salesman, that was a lie. “I am a teacher,” I recanted, “But I am not poor.”

We, as Christians are not poor and it’s not because of our paychecks. We are not poor because we have a Father in heaven who provides. We have a dad who is faithful and have given us these assurances:

“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” Romans 8:32 NLT

“You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NKJV

“Let the LORD be magnified, Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” Psalms 35:27 NKJV

When I proclaim I am poor, I am saying God does not keep his word. He doesn’t take care of His children. My words are an indictment on my Father. I need to watch my mouth,

So my question to the salesmen should be, “Do you have any discounts because I want to be a good steward of my Dad’s resources.”

I am not poor. I am the daughter of a King.
