What’s in Your Wallet?

This morning I uttered a lie. Yes, me. I was praying in the Spirit asking God for an idea for this Adult Bible Study I’m leading in five days. After praying I said, “Yeah, I got nothing.”

Have you ever uttered or thought those words? Someone comes to you for advice and you shrug and think, “I got nothing.” You are at your wits end. You have prayed, you have cried out and you think, “I have nothing left.”

Well, you are in good company – me, Moses, & the widow.

When Moses was arguing with God about delivering the people out of bondage, when he was saying what he couldn’t do, God asked, “What’s in your hand?”

When the widow was telling Elisha her financial woes, Elisha asked, “What’s in your house?”

When I was telling the Lord how I had no idea what I was suppose to teach, the Holy Spirit asked, “Who do you have within you?”

We never have nothing (yes, that’s a double negative indicating a positive, we have everything). God looks ahead and provides. Moses had his staff. The widow had her oil. I have Jesus, the living Word.

Don’t believe the lie, “You got nothing”. If you have Jesus, you have every spiritual blessing. You have a staff – authority. You have oil – anointing. You have Jesus – the living word.

Go out and do what He is calling you to do. You never have nothing.

“Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.””
‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬
