What’s Next?

It’s the joke of the internet – What is the next disaster of 2020? It’s a joke but as Chaucer said, ”Many a truth have been spoken in jest.” And the truth behind that statement is “fear”.

When I reflect on my personal life, it seems I have been living in chaos since March of 2019. And every time I think this season has ended, another begins more unpleasant than the last.

And so, there is a temptation to fear tomorrow. But God promised through the prophet Isaiah:

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

So, what is the next disaster of 2020?

It doesn’t matter. I will not fear because God is with me.
I will not be afraid because Jehovah is my God.
No matter what the rest 2020 brings God will strengthen me.
He will help me. He will hold me up with His righteous right hand.

But not only that, the battles I am facing are preparing me as a threshing tool in spiritual warfare so that I will pulverize my enemies – rejection, obscurity, inequality.

There is purpose in this pain!

So 2020, you have been forewarned. I will not fear. I will not be afraid. God is on my side and I will emerge stronger, more resilient, more prosperous, more Christ-like.

Come at me and catch these hands, 2020.

“You will be a new threshing instrument with many sharp teeth. You will tear your enemies apart, making chaff of mountains.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬
